Prime Minister Modi Holds ‘Wonderful’ Meeting with Qatari Counterpart

National Desk, 15th February: Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a productive meeting with Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani on Wednesday, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations between India and Qatar. This marks Modi’s second official visit to Qatar, following his initial trip in June 2016.

Upon his arrival in Doha, Modi was warmly received by State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Soltan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi. During his two-day stay, Modi is scheduled to meet with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Expressing optimism for fruitful discussions, Modi emphasized the importance of deepening ties between India and Qatar. He also extended gratitude to the Indian diaspora in Doha for their warm hospitality.

Modi’s visit to Qatar follows his recent trip to the UAE. The announcement of his visit coincided with the release of seven out of eight imprisoned former Indian Navy personnel by Qatar. These individuals had faced varying jail terms, with charges against them remaining undisclosed by both Qatari authorities and New Delhi.

Highlighting the robust people-to-people connections, Modi underscored the significant presence of over 800,000 Indians residing in Doha, reflecting the strong bond shared between the two nations.
