Prime Minister Modi Launches Construction of Ekalavya Model Residential Schools in Meghalaya’s Garo Hills
Northeast Desk, 3rd October: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the construction of five Ekalavya Model Residential Schools in the Garo Hills region, a significant initiative aimed at enhancing educational access for students in this underserved area. The foundation-laying ceremony was conducted virtually, highlighting the government’s commitment to improving education.
The schools will be strategically located across three districts:
• South Garo Hills: Baghmara, Gasuapara, and Chokpot
• South West Garo Hills: Jellongpara
• North Garo Hills: Radi village
This initiative is expected to greatly improve educational opportunities for students in the Garo Hills, providing quality education in remote areas and fostering regional development. The Ekalavya Model Residential Schools are specifically designed to cater to the needs of students from marginalized communities, ensuring they have access to better educational resources.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma’s office has publicly expressed gratitude for the Prime Minister’s decision, recognizing the positive impact this initiative will have on the region’s educational landscape.
