Prime Minister Modi Pays Moving Tribute on Vijay Diwas, Commemorating 1971 War Heroes

National Desk, 16th December: On Vijay Diwas, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid a moving tribute to the brave heroes of the 1971 war, whose sacrifices led to a decisive victory for India. In a post on ‘X’, he extended heartfelt tributes to those who served India in 1971, emphasizing that their valour and dedication remain a source of immense pride for the nation. The Prime Minister noted that the sacrifices and unwavering spirit of these heroes will forever be etched in the hearts of the people and the nation’s history.

The Indian Army also marked the historic victory on ‘X’, stating that December 16 commemorates the triumph of the Indian Armed Forces over Pakistan in the 1971 war. The post called for saluting the courage and fortitude displayed by the Indian Armed Forces on this significant day.

Vijay Diwas is celebrated on December 16 to honor India’s victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war. This date marks the signing of the instrument of surrender by Pakistan in Dhaka, signifying the complete capitulation of the Pakistan Army after a 13-day India-Pakistan War. The surrender of over 93,000 soldiers established India as a major regional force, and this decisive victory is remembered as a crucial moment in the nation’s history.
