Priyanka Gandhi Secures Landslide Victory in Wayanad Lok Sabha By-Election

National: In a historic win for the Congress, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has clinched the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in Kerala with an overwhelming lead of over 4 lakh votes. Gandhi defeated her nearest rival, Sathyan Mokeri of the CPI(M), by a margin of 2,09,906 votes, securing 6,17,942 votes. BJP’s Navya Haridas trailed in third place with 1,09,202 votes.

Following the victory, Priyanka Gandhi expressed her heartfelt gratitude on her social media platform, X (formerly Twitter), saying, “My dearest sisters and brothers of Wayanad, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the trust you have placed in me. I will ensure that you truly feel this victory is yours and that the person you chose to represent you understands your hopes and dreams.”

The Congress general secretary also thanked the United Democratic Front (UDF), volunteers, and party workers for their relentless efforts during the campaign. “My colleagues in the UDF, leaders from across Kerala, and workers who fought like true soldiers for the ideals we all believe in—thank you for your unwavering support,” she remarked.

Reflecting on the intense campaign trail, Gandhi acknowledged the long hours and challenges faced by her team. “Twelve-hour car journeys with no food and rest were a small price to pay for the love and encouragement from the people of Wayanad,” she shared.

Priyanka Gandhi also expressed deep gratitude to her family, including her brother, *Rahul Gandhi, who previously represented the Wayanad seat before his disqualification from Parliament earlier this year. *”To my brother Rahul, you are the bravest of them all. Thank you for showing me the way and always having my back,” she said.

This win is not just a political milestone for the Congress but also a personal victory for Priyanka Gandhi, marking her debut in Parliament and reaffirming the party’s stronghold in Kerala. The results are being seen as a morale booster for the UDF as they gear up for the 2024 general elections.

Priyanka’s victory speech highlighted her commitment to being a voice for the people of Wayanad. “This win belongs to the people of Wayanad, and I promise to fight for their dreams and aspirations as one of their own,” she affirmed.
