Priyanka Gandhi Vadra Alleges “Mafia Raj” in Assam, Rallies Support for Congress Candidates
Guwahati, 1st May: Congress National General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra made her presence felt in Assam, spearheading a rally in Balajan, Dhubri at 10 am in support of Congress candidate Rakibul Hussain for the upcoming elections.
Gandhi Vadra didn’t mince words, alleging a “mafia raj” in Assam under the BJP’s rule and directly targeting Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. She asserted that serious charges against Sarma vanished when he switched from Congress to BJP, implying preferential treatment within the ruling party.
“This government is entirely focused on its interests… They are not bothered about the struggles of the public… Unemployment is the highest today. 70 crore people are unemployed,” Gandhi Vadra declared, highlighting her concerns about governance under the current administration.
This visit marks Gandhi Vadra’s continued engagement in Assam’s political landscape. Her previous visit on April 16 aimed to drum up support for Gaurav Gogoi, the Congress candidate for the Jorhat assembly seat.
With Assam preparing for the third phase of Lok Sabha elections, featuring 47 candidates across four constituencies, the political atmosphere is charged with anticipation. As the state braces for the final phase on May 7, political parties intensify their campaigns to secure voter support in what promises to be a significant electoral showdown.
