Property worth lakhs gutted in massive fire at BCPL in Assam’s Dibrugarh

Guwahati: A massive fire broke out in the site of Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Ltd (BCPL) in Dibrugarh district of Assam on early Monday morning.

The incident took place at around 1:30 am in Lepetkata area in upper of the district.

According to reports, the fire broke out in the Linear Low-density Polythene (LLDPE) unit of the BCPL in the area.

Meanwhile, the blaze continued for more than an hour and it took at least two hours to douse the fire by the BCPL fire tenders.

However, worth lakhs of rupees burnt to ashes in the heavy fire.

It needs to be noted that the reason behind the fire is believed to be an electrical short circuit.

It may be mentioned that there were no casualties or injuries reported in the incident and further investigation is on to ascertain the exact cause of the blaze.
