Proposal to Rename New Delhi’s Rajpath as ‘Kartavya Path’ Approved
Guwahati: The Rajpath in New Delhi on Wednesday has been renamed “Kartavya Path.”
The proposal to rename Rajpath as Kartavya Path was reportedly approved by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs received the proposal.
Lok Sabha MP and NDMC member Meenakshi Lekhi said, “We have approved the request to rename Rajpath as Kartavya Path in the special Council meeting today.”
NDMC vice Chairman Satish Upadhyay said the entire stretch between the Netaji Statue at India Gate and Rashtrapati Bhavan will henceforth be referred to as the Kartavya Path.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 8 will dedicate the entire stretch, which has been rebuilt as part of his administration’s huge Central Vista redevelopment plan.
State-specific food stalls, red granite paths surrounded by flora, vending areas, parking lots, and round-the-clock security will all be present on the rebuilt Kartavya Path.
The entire stretch will be accessible to the public from September 9.
