Guwahati, 14 June: Guwahati police conducted a search on a spa salon on Tuesday night in the city’s Noonmati area and arrested six people for alleged involvement in illegal activity.
The raid was carried out at ‘Lucky Hair Beauty Spa Salon’ which was ordered by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Nandini Kakati.
According to reports, there were two men and four women arrested who were also found in compromising positions during the raid.
Reportedly, the arrested was allegedly involved in operating a prostitution ring from the spa.
Further investigation awaited.
Last year in December, the Crime Branch of the Guwahati Police conducted raids throughout the city and six spa salon owners were arrested.
There were two male and four female spa owners among those arrested. The arrested spa owners were identified as Mili Sinha, Usha Daimary, Pahi Das, Jaanmoni Das, Chinmoy Sharma and Tanmoy Das. They were arrested on suspicion of running prostitution and human trafficking ring operations.
16 young women were also arrested during the raids in addition to the six business owners. They were interrogated by the Women’s Police before being released.
According to reports, Crime Branch and the Panbazar Women’s Police collaborated to carry out the operation.
The raids were carried out in Lachit Nagar, Ulubari and Rajgarh areas of Guwahati. Officials said that four spas named Copus, Opera, Aceit and Envy Me.
