Protest rally organized by Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha against the alleged injustice meted out to lakhs of Tea Garden workers
A protest rally was organized by the Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha (ACMS). Thousands of Tea workers gathered at Mancotta playground Today to join the Sharmik Gorjon
The Rally was organized to protest against the alleged injustice being meted out to lakhs of Tea Garden workers and the people from the community by the Government.
Today’s rally was attended by ACMS President and former Union minister Paban Singh Ghatowar, Ex-Minister of Prithibi Majhi, Atwua Munda Ex-MLA Raju Sahu, ACMS general secretary Rupesh Gowala and journalist Nitumoni Saikia who was the Chief Guest of the programme.
The ACMS, which is the largest Trade Union in Asia in the plantation sector is seeking fulfillment of its 11-point charter of demand. Among the major demands are hike of minimum daily wages of Tea Garden workers from Rs 167 to Rs 351, adequate daily wage and other facilities for labourers working in Tea Gardens owned by Small Tea Growers, proper health care system and sanitation facilities for the workers and their families, Scheduled Tribe (ST) status for Tea community people of the State and a separate autonomous council for the Tea community.
