Pujashree Old Age Home, Dibrugarh to shelter 100 elderly persons in need of care

Dibrugarh district is all set to get a hundred-bedded old age home, with the existing 20-bedded Pujashree Old Age Home being upgraded to accommodate more elderly persons in need of care. Dibrugarh additional deputy commissioner, Nandita Baruah on Friday laid the foundation stone of the new building at Lekai, Thakurthan in Dibrugarh.

The old age home will come up in a 10-bigha plot of land donated by Green Gogoi and Devajani Gogoi Changmai, who have been running the existing age-old home since 2017. Nestled amidst the lush greenery of the tea garden, the serenity of the surroundings will provide the elderly inmates of the home to relax and be at peace.

Nandita Baruah said,” Green Gogoi and Devajani Gogoi Changmai have already donated 10 bighas of land for the construction of an old age home, which is noteworthy. The district administration is always there to help them.”

Devajani Gogoi Changmai, president of Pujashree Briddha Ashram Samittee said, “We have started the Briddha Ashram (old age home) in 2017 to provide shelter to the senior citizens who were neglected by their own children.” The new home for the elderly will be equipped with all facilities to ensure that the elderly can live in a comfortable manner.
