Guwahati: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann tied the knot with Dr. Gurpreet Kaur on Thursday, a day after making a surprise announcement of their engagement.
As per the customary Anand Karaj, the marriage took place in a Gurudwara in accordance with Sikh traditions.
Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal attended the wedding and blessed the newly hitched couple.
Raghav Chaddha, an AAP legislator who attended the celebrations as well, posted images of the event. “I have come here with my mother…I wholeheartedly congratulate Mann Sahab and his family on this special occasion,” he said.
Prior to the wedding, there were strict security measures in place at the chief minister’s residence in Chandigarh.
Gurpreet Kaur (30), shared a picture of herself on Twitter and wrote, “Din Shagna Da Chadya” (the day of marriage has arrived). She also thanked the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders for their congratulatory messages.
The announcement of Bhagwant Mann and Dr. Gurpreet Kaur’s impending nuptials was kept a secret by their families until Wednesday, July 6. Even their relationship was kept carefully under wraps.
Mann has been married twice. His first marriage ended in 2015, and he has two children from it: son Dilshan (age 17) and daughter Seerat Kaur (age 21).
