PV Sindhu Clinches Gold Medal In CWG, Puts India In 4th Position
Guwahati: Ace badminton player PV Sindhu won her maiden gold medal on Monday at the Birmingham-hosted 2022 Commonwealth Games.
She faced Canadian Michelle Li in the Women’s Single badminton final.
The game lasted 48 minutes. Sindhu was recently dealing with various injury-related problems.
She wins the games with scores of 21-15 and 21-13.
The gold medalist has already claimed three victories this year, including the Syed Modi International, Swiss Open, and Singapore Open.
Sindhu has won two Olympic medals: Silver in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 and Bronze in Tokyo in 2020.
Meanwhile, India has so far taken home 56 medals from the ongoing famous multi-sport competition, including 19 gold, 15 silver, and 22 bronze.
With this gold medal, the nation has surpassed New Zealand and moved up to fourth place in the CWG medal standings.
