PV Sindhu clinches Singapore Open title after beating Wang Zhi Yi
Guwahati: PV Sindhu, a well-known badminton player from India and double Olympic medallist, has won the coveted Singapore open championship.
PV Sindhu defeated Wang Zhi Yi of China in the final match to win the Singapore Open championship.
Sindhu won the final of the Singapore open by beating her Chinese opponent in three games 21-9, 11-21, 21-15.
“Many thanks to everyone who has offered encouragement. It’s good to be here Singapore; it’s a nice place,” PV Sindhu stated following the victory.
She added, “It is always good to win the finals after a long time. Receiving this title today means a lot to me because it boosts my confidence and will undoubtedly advance me.”
“The competition has been excellent overall. This is just the beginning, and I’m looking forward to unwinding before focusing on the CWG,” Sindhu further said.
S Sindhu won the match in two minutes short of the hour mark.
This was Sindhu’s maiden victory in the Super 500 level and her third championship of the year.
