Guwahati: The iconic Rabindra Bhawan in Guwahati’s Ambari area would be demolished and rebuilt, reports stated on Tuesday.
Reports claim that the city’s cultural hub, the state art gallery, which regularly stages plays and theatre productions as well as exhibitions and a variety of other events, has been undergoing renovations for some time.
The centre will be rebuilt by the state government, but with greater facilities. Currently, the general public cannot enter Rabindra Bhawan.
The Assam government’s culture department will handle the reconstruction of Rabindra Bhawan. No further details have emerged yet regarding further course of action.
