Rahul Gandhi Condemns Freezing of Congress Party Accounts as “Criminal Action”
National Desk, 21st March: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi vehemently criticized the freezing of party accounts ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, labeling it as a “criminal action” orchestrated by the Prime Minister and the Home Minister.
In a scathing indictment of India’s democratic state, Gandhi asserted that the notion of India being a democracy is a “complete lie.” He highlighted the party’s inability to pay even a nominal amount due to the frozen accounts, despite garnering 20% of India’s vote.
“This is a criminal action on the Congress party, a criminal action done by the Prime Minister and the Home Minister…So, the idea that India is a democracy is a lie. There is no democracy in India today. The idea that India is the world’s largest democracy is a lie. A complete lie. 20% of India votes for us and we are not able to pay Rs 2 for anything. It has been orchestrated to cripple us in the elections. Even if our bank accounts are unfrozen today, huge amount of debt damage has been done to Indian democracy,” Gandhi emphasized during a press briefing to the media on March 21.
He further asserted that the move was a deliberate attempt to handicap the Congress party in the upcoming elections, emphasizing that even if the accounts were unfrozen immediately, extensive damage to Indian democracy had already been inflicted.
