Rahul Gandhi: Its Clear That PM Is Protecting Adani

Guwahati: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi asserted on Wednesday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was defending businessman Gautam Adani and he also expressed dissatisfaction with the latter’s response to the motion of thanks to the president’s speech in parliament.

Speaking to reporters after PM Modi concluded his address at the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, Rahul said, “I am not satisfied with the PM’s speech. However, it has revealed the truth. His speech had nothing about an inquiry (into the Adani Group in the wake of the Hindenburg report). It’s clear that the PM is protecting him (Gautam Adani).”

The Wayanad MP said that none of his inquiries were addressed by PM Modi.

“The PM, in his speech’ did not answer any (of his) questions. He was shell-shocked. I did not raise any difficult questions. They were simple questions that he dodged,” Rahul said.

He added that PM Modi would have announced that an investigation of Gautam Adani’s enterprises will be launched in the wake of the Hindenburg report if the two men weren’t pals.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attacked the previous Congress administration at the Center in his speech to the Lok Sabha, stating that during its ten years in office between 2004 and 2014, it “turned every opportunity into a catastrophe.”

Further, PM Modi asserted that the Congress’ rule from 2004 to 2014 was “full with scams.”

“Between 2004 to 2014, the Indian economy suffered and inflation soared to double digits. This is why if anything good happens, their disappointment (of the Opposition) increases,” PM Modi said during his address in the Lower House.

He claimed, the Congress missed out on opportunities to advance the nation during the UPA’s ten-year reign at the centre.

However, the Hindenburg-Adani controversy was not brought up in PM Modi’s speech.
