Rahul Gandhi Mocks Exit Polls, Dubbing Them “Modi Media Polls”
National Desk, 2nd June: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized the Lok Sabha exit poll results, dismissing them as “Modi media polls” and “fantasy polls” orchestrated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. His remarks followed the release of multiple exit polls, including the India Today-Axis My India poll, projecting a significant victory for the BJP-led NDA with around 379 seats.
In response to queries about the projected seats for the INDIA bloc, primarily led by the Congress, Gandhi made a reference to a song by Sidhu Moose Wala, stating, “Have you heard Sidhu Moose Wala’s song 295? It’s 295.” This comment alluded to the anticipated seat count for the INDIA bloc, hinting at a figure of 295 seats.
Meanwhile, several parties within the INDIA bloc convened a meeting in the national capital to assess their preparations leading up to the vote counting on June 4. Expressing confidence, they declared their expectation of securing over 295 seats, which they deemed sufficient to form the upcoming government.
Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge addressed the media during the meeting, emphasizing that the projection of over 295 seats for the INDIA bloc was based on feedback from the public, referring to it as the “people’s survey.”
