Rahul Gandhi Returns to Parliamentary Defence Panel After Reinstatement
National Desk, 17th August: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been nominated to the parliamentary standing committee on Defence, marking his return to a crucial role after his recent reinstatement as a Member of Parliament.
Gandhi was previously a member of the parliamentary panel on Defence, but his membership was revoked in March. However, on August 7, the Lok Sabha Secretariat restored his membership following the Supreme Court’s decision to stay his conviction in the ‘Modi’ surname remark case.
The Congress leader’s disqualification from the Lower House in March 2023 had left a void in the parliamentary committee, but his reinstatement as the Wayanad MP has allowed him to resume his responsibilities in shaping defence-related matters.
