Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra Targets Amit Shah’s Meghalaya Corruption Remark
Northeast Desk, 22nd January: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, during his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Meghalaya’s Ri Bhoi, criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah for previously calling the Meghalaya government the most corrupt.
Gandhi highlighted the irony of Shah’s statement and subsequent political alliance with the same government led by Chief Minister Conrad Sangma after the Meghalaya general elections.
He emphasized that Meghalaya’s affairs should be governed locally, not from Delhi, and addressed national issues like unemployment during his public address.
The yatra entered Meghalaya after Rahul Gandhi’s denial of entry to Batadrava Than in Nagaon, Assam, leading to a sit-in protest and a political uproar.
