Rahul Gandhi’s Visit to Assam and Manipur to Focus on Flood Relief and Conflict-Hit Areas
Guwahati, 7th July: Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, is set to embark on a visit to Silchar, Assam, tomorrow, followed by Manipur, to address pressing issues of flood relief and conflict resolution.
Gandhi’s visit to Silchar coincides with Assam’s struggle against severe flooding, which has displaced thousands and caused widespread devastation. He plans to meet with affected families to underscore their challenges and elevate their concerns on a national platform.
From Assam, Gandhi will travel to Manipur on July 8, where he will visit relief camps in Moirang and Churachandpur. These areas have witnessed a surge in internally displaced persons due to ongoing conflicts between communities. Sources within the Congress party indicate that Gandhi intends to engage with local leaders and residents in these camps, aiming to understand their situation firsthand and advocate for necessary interventions.
The visit underscores Gandhi’s commitment to addressing humanitarian crises and supporting affected communities in both Assam and Manipur, amidst their respective challenges of flooding and conflict-induced displacement.
