Guwahati, June 7: In a significant operation, the Government Railway Police (GRP) conducted a thorough search of Train No. 14619 DN, the Tripura Sundari Express, at Guwahati Railway Station. Acting on a tip-off, authorities successfully recovered 15 packets of suspected cannabis (ganja), totaling a weight of 10.228 kilograms.
The operation resulted in the apprehension of three individuals, including a juvenile, who were transporting the contraband from Agartala, with Bihar as their intended destination. The detainees are currently in custody, facing drug trafficking charges as legal proceedings progress.
This seizure underscores the concerted efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat the transportation and distribution of illegal substances through the railway network. Further investigations are underway to dismantle the broader network involved in this illicit trade.
Authorities have reaffirmed their dedication to maintaining rigorous surveillance and enforcement measures, ensuring the safety and security of passengers while thwarting the exploitation of railways for criminal activities.
