Railways Goes the Extra Mile: Halts Train to Ensure Groom Reaches Wedding on Time

Howrah: In a heartwarming display of human compassion and efficient railway management, the Eastern Railway (ER) took an extraordinary step to ensure a groom’s timely arrival at his wedding ceremony.

A 34-member wedding party from Mumbai, traveling on the Gitanjali Express, faced a delay that threatened to derail their plans. Alarmed, Chandrasekhar Wagh, a member of the party, took to X to appeal for assistance.

Responding swiftly, the ER coordinated with higher railway authorities to delay the departure of the Howrah-Guwahati Saraighat Express. This strategic move allowed the delayed Gitanjali Express to arrive and facilitate a seamless transfer of the wedding party.

With the help of battery-operated vehicles, the groom and his entourage were swiftly transported from one platform to another, ensuring they boarded the Saraighat Express with minimal delay.

The ER’s proactive approach and the cooperation of passengers from both trains have garnered widespread praise. This heartwarming incident underscores the railway’s commitment to providing exceptional service and going beyond the call of duty to assist passengers in times of need.
