Rajasthan Pol Crisis: Ashok Gehlot To Head To Delhi, Meet Sonia Gandhi

Guwahati: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot is scheduled to meet with Congress Interim President Sonia Gandhi here on Wednesday afternoon in the run-up to the Congress Presidential Election following the revolt by his party’s members in the state.

According to Rajasthan Minister Pratap Khachariyawas, Gehlot would see Sonia Gandhi when he arrives in the city today. As a result of Gehlot emerging as the front-runner in the party’s presidential polls, for which the nomination process has already started, Congress is currently attempting to resolve the political issue in the state over a change in leadership.

Three Ashok Gehlot supporters received notices from the party for their participation in the political unrest in Rajasthan. However, the chief minister was not mentioned in the report for disciplinary action.

Dharmendra Rathore, the chairman of the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC), Mahesh Joshi, the party’s chief whip, and Shanti Dhariwal, the minister for parliamentary affairs, have all received the show cause letters.

Ajay Maken and Mallikarjun Kharge, the AICC’s in-charge, had already recommended to Sonia Gandhi in a written report that disciplinary action be taken against the three Gehlot supporters.

Maken and Kharge, who were designated observers for the Congress Legislature Party meeting, had to leave Jaipur since they were unable to speak with individual MLAs to learn about their opinions. The supporters of Ashok Gehlot who are against Sachin Pilot being promoted to the position of chief minister attended a “parallel meeting.”

Maken criticised the “parallel meeting” as being disorganised and rejected other demands made by MLAs and ministers who were thought to be close to Gehlot.

Gehlot reportedly had a casual meeting with a few ministers and party MLAs at his home in Jaipur on Tuesday.

According to reports, the meeting was attended by MLAs Madan Prajapat, Rafiq Khan, Amin Kagzi, Khushveer Jojawar, Amit Chachan, and Jagdish Jangid in addition to Forest and Environment Minister Sukhram Bishnoi, Minister of State for Home Rajendra Yadav, Minister for Minorities Saleh Mohammad, and Minister for Sports Ashok Chandna.

A former deputy chief minister of the State, Sachin Pilot, has also been to Delhi.

The nomination process for the next president of Congress will run through September 30. The results of the election will be announced on October 19.

Other names besides Gehlot have surfaced as potential candidates for the presidency during the situation.
