Rajiv Gandhi Orang National Park’s name changed

Guwahati: Name change has become a trend in the country with several places being renamed and this has now taken place in Assam as the cabinet headed by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has decided to rename the Rajiv Gandhi Orang National Park as Orang National Park.

The cabinet while renaming the park stated that the decision was taken following requests that the Adivasi and Tea Tribes made while meeting the Chief Minister recently.

Information and Public Relations Minister Pijush Hazarika claimed that the decision was based on the request of the said community who had met the Chief Minister and request for the name change.

He added that prominent members of the communities had demanded the removal of the formal Indian Prime Minister’s name for the national park.
