Guwahati, 10th May: As Akshaya Tritiya unfolds across the nation on May 10, devotees immerse themselves in the sacred waters of the river Ganga in fervent celebration. In Ayodhya, a special dress has been meticulously crafted for the idol of Ram Lalla, adding to the auspiciousness of the occasion. Notably, this unique attire has been designed by Manish Tripathi, incorporating Assam’s Muga silk and Eri silk.
The creation of this special dress demanded approximately 85 days of dedicated effort from Manish Tripathi and his team. The textile required for Ram Lalla’s attire was graciously provided by Riniki Bhuyan’s ‘Golden Thread of Assam’ project, overseen by Himanta Biswa Sarma’s wife, Riniki Bhuyan.
On the sacred day of Akshaya Tritiya, Ram Lalla graces devotees adorned in a garment crafted from Assam Silk, a moment that fills the state with immense pride. Designer Manish Tripathi envisions this initiative as a means to elevate Assam Silk to national prominence.
Throughout the week, beginning with Akshaya Tritiya, Ram Lalla will don this special attire, meticulously crafted with the most delicate threads, evoking devotion and reverence. The dress features intricate vaishnavite-themed motifs such as the shankha, peacock, and shankha gada, adding to its spiritual significance. The cream color of the Eri Silk, used for Fridays, seamlessly blends with the idol’s attire on this auspicious day.
Manish Tripathi believes that adorning Ram Lalla with authentic textiles is a powerful way to promote the rich heritage of Indian craftsmanship and support the weaver community nationwide.
As devotees throng the temple to offer prayers on this auspicious occasion, the temple premises are adorned with exquisite decorations. However, it is the display of decorated fruits that captivates the attention of devotees.
Reports suggest that Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar is expected to visit the Ram temple, further adding to the significance of the day.
