Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan to telecast on TV soon

Entertainment Desk, 28 June: Amid the controversy over film Adipurush, the legendary teleserial “Ramayana” from the late 1980s is scheduled to be telecasted again.

Taking to Instagram, channel Shemaroo Tv shared the promo of the super hit show ‘Ramayan’ and captioned it in Hindi, “We are bringing to you all dear viewers the world-famous mythological serial “Ramayan”… Watch “Ramayan” from 3rd July at 7:30 PM only on your favourite channel #ShemarooTV.”

The mythology television serial Ramayan will begin airing on the Shemaroo TV channel on July 3 at 7:30 p.m.

The Ramayana which was directed by Ramanand Sagar was a popular serial in the late 1980s.

Arun Govil played Ram, Deepika Chikhalia played Sita and Sunil Lahri played Lakshman in the television series. Hanuman was portrayed by the late Dara Singh and Ravana was played by Arvind Trivedi. The show was telecast from January 25 to July 31, 1988 and drew a huge audience.

The news of the show’s comeback to television coincided with social media users comparing it to Om Raut’s recently released Pan-Indian film “Adipurush.”

Fans swamped the comment section with red heart emoticons as soon as the ‘Ramayan’ trailer was released by the producers.

According to Union Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Minister Prakash Javadekar, Doordarshan decided to re-telecast the mythological series earlier in 2020 during the covid-lockdown due to popular demand.

Speaking about “Adipurush,” the dramatic Ramayana retelling movie received criticism on social media for its subpar visual effects and contentious dialogues such as “marega bete,” “bua ka bagicha hain kya,” and “jalegi tere baap ki.”

Many people from all throughout the nation including critics and reviewers have voiced their dissatisfaction with some dialogues in the movie. After receiving such criticism, the writers of “Adipurush” revamped the dialogues.
