Ranoj Pegu: Assam govt to appoint 20,000 teachers by May 10

Guwahati: Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu on Thursday announced that the state government will appoint 20,000 teachers by May 10.

This effort is part of the Assam government’s “Mission 1 lakh Jobs” initiative.

The Minister also stated that job advertisements for the positions have already been published and that appointments will begin once the merit list is released.

The education minister said, “The state government is dedicated to appointing 20,000 teachers and it is part of the state government’s Mission 1 lakh jobs push.”

Pegu further stated that advertising for all of the positions has been made and that appointments will begin as soon as the merit list is released. He said that there are openings for instructors at all levels, including lower elementary, upper primary, secondary, and post-graduate.

“All of these positions have been advertised. Document verification for teachers in lower primary, upper primary, and secondary schools is currently underway. The merit list will be released after it is completed, and the government will begin making appointments. It’s part of the Assam government’s Mission 1 lakh Jobs initiative, and it’ll be finished by May 10,” Pegu added.

The minister stated that the government has begun implementing the Centre’s New Education Policy, which was announced in 2020.

“The state’s new education policy has already begun to be implemented. The new education policy is a wide framework for a new educational system, and we have previously announced that our Directorate of School Education would be divided into two levels of education: elementary and secondary. We will begin delinking Class 11 and 12 from colleges in 2022-23, and colleges will solely offer degree and post-graduate courses “he stated

He further stated that the government has set up a committee from the Social Welfare, Education, Health, and Tribal Affairs departments to oversee pre-primary education, as well as the health and nutrition of kids.

“We’ve started our new education policy, which includes a multidisciplinary approach, even at the higher secondary level. The procedure has begun, and it will take a long time to complete in stages “he stated.
