Ravi Sharma’s Starrer Sri Raghupati All Set to Hit Theatres Today
Guwahati, 5 June: The much awaited Ravi Sharma’s starrer Assamese film ‘Sri Raghupati’ will finally be released in theaters on Monday. Gauhati High Court has already lifted the ban on the film on the basis of an appeal. The high court issued a clear directive ordering the release of the movie “Sri Raghupati” on Monday.
The court allowed the screening of the film from 11 am today. But it is learnt that the display could not be made at 11 am as they did not receive the official letter of the court. The audience will be able to enjoy the film on Monday afternoon.
The court nullified a stay order issued by a lower court in response to a lawsuit filed by former producer Suruj Sarma.
“This is to certify that the Hon’ble High Court while entertaining the Arbitration Appeal No.5/2023 with Interlocutory Application No. 1576/2023, has passed a categorical order directing release of the motion picture namely “Sri Raghupati” at 11.00 A.M. today (05.06.2023). The certified copy of the court order will be supplied immediately,” a notification reads.
It should be noted that a lower court had previously ordered a halt on the movie’s scheduled June 2 release. Kamrup (M) District and Sessions Judge Court issued the stay order due to claims that former producer Suruj Sarma had broken their contract.
After the lower court halted the film’s release till June 15, producer Salen Kumar Sharma, whose company, “Maniratna Entertainment,” was scheduled to release the movie on that day went to the Gauhati High Court with his complaint.
