Red zone declared in Imphal before PM’s visit

Guwahati: Red zone declared in various areas of Imphal Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel during his visit to Manipur on January 4.

PM during his visit to Imphal will inaugurate 13 Projects worth around Rs. 1850 crores and lay the foundation stone of 9 projects worth around Rs 2950 crore. These projects relate to diverse sectors such as Road Infrastructure, Drinking Water Supply, Health, Urban Development, Housing, Information Technology, Skill Development, Art, and Culture, among others.

The inauguration function will be held at Hatta Kangjeibung in Imphal.

In an order issued today, the Imphal West district administration designated roads and surrounding areas from Bir Tikendrajit International Airport to Sanjenthong Bridge, as well as roads leading to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), as are zone’ under section 19 of the Drone Rules, 2021, in anticipation of the VVIP’s visit.

The move was made as part of security preparations to ensure a smooth visit by the Prime Minister to the state, according to the order.

It further stated that from 8 a.m. on January 4 until the Prime Minister’s departure from the state, the use of any unmanned aircraft system operation (drones), including Nano and micro category drones, will be outlawed.

It may be mentioned that in another order of the Imphal West district magistrate ordered that all fuel pumps along the routes –Imphal airport to Sanjenthong Bridge will remain closed from 8 am of the day PM visit to till his departure.
