Guwahati: Legislator and Raijor Dol leader Akhil Gogoi has demanded the expulsion of P&RD Minister Ranjeet Dass after Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma dismissed the announcement about houses and programs in rural areas being taxable.
Speaking about the issue, Gogoi stated that it was “unacceptable” that people in the rural areas would be “forced to pay taxes for building their own houses”. “But, we thank the Chief Minister of Assam for clarifying that there were rules of taking any taxes from rural areas”, he added.
Gogoi further added, “If the P&RD minister had announced the taxes on housing without the approval from the Chief Minister then we demand his immediate removal from the ministry. But, if the announcement was made with permission from the Chief Minister, then we would demand him to resign from his post as the CM had termed the announcement as invalid.”
