Guwahati: The well-known painter Nil Pawan Baruah passed away on Friday at around 3.15 pm, causing Assamese citizens to experience grief once more.
The well-known artist passed away today after receiving treatment for a long time at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
This comes after renowned Assamese actor for stage and screen Nipon Goswami passed away yesterday at Guwahati’s Nemcare Hospital following a heart arrest.
Nil Pawan Baruah was born in Teok of Jorhat Assam on June 1st, 1936. He enrolled in the renowned Shantiniketan in 1961.
He began teaching at Guwahati Art College in 1966. The renowned painter later founded the Charu – Karu Kala Parishad in Charaideo, Assam.
The Assam state government presented the renowned artist with the “Assam Sourav” award in 2021.
