Reshmi Thapa Chhetri from Sikkim to supervise SAFF U-19

Guwahati: Football referee Reshmi Thapa Chhetri from Sikkim is all set to supervise the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) U-19 Women’s Football Championship.

The championship is scheduled to be held in Dhaka, Bangladesh from December 11 to 22.

National women’s football teams from Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, the Maldives, India, and Bangladesh will compete in this event. Dhaka’s Bir Shrestha Shaheed Shipahi Mustofa Kamal Stadium will host the event.

According to the Sikkim Football Association (SFA), Chettri, a member of the SFA Referee Board and a national football referee from Sikkim, has been assigned to conduct international matches involving Asian countries for the fifth time.

Chettri has overseen football matches in Japan, Vietnam, Tajikistan, Bhutan, and Bangladesh in the past.

Meanwhile, Menla Ethenpa, the President of the SFA, has congratulated Reshmi on her outstanding achievement.

It needs to be mentioned that Reshmi Thapa Chhetri became the first woman from the northeastern state to have been assigned as the National Level Football Referee.
