Residents Protest Against Reckless Movement of Dumpers and Tractors in Pathrighat and Dipila

Pathrighat and Dipila areas in Assam are witnessing growing discontent among residents due to the unchecked and reckless movement of dumpers and tractors carrying rocks, sand, and soil. Many of these vehicles operate without following traffic rules, with several tractor drivers lacking valid licenses, and some tractors not even being registered.

The situation has created a sense of fear in the region, particularly along the Mangaldai-Pathrighat-Khairabari and Pathrighat-Duni roads, which pass through areas with numerous schools. Students are among the worst affected, as these roads have become accident-prone due to the reckless behavior of the vehicle operators.

A tragic incident on December 28 highlighted the issue when Imran Haque, a Grade 10 student of Dipila Higher Secondary School, was seriously injured in a collision with a dumper truck. He succumbed to his injuries the next day while undergoing treatment, intensifying public outrage.

Residents and local unions have urged the government to take immediate action, including deploying police in crowded areas to manage traffic effectively. They are demanding strict measures against unregulated dumpers and tractors to ensure the safety of students and civilians.

The community emphasizes that urgent steps are required to prevent further loss of lives and maintain public safety in the region.
