RGU Bags Major Consultancy Project to Boost Tourism Investment in Arunachal

Itanagar: In a significant step toward revitalising Arunachal Pradesh’s tourism sector, the North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NEDFi) has awarded Rajiv Gandhi University’s Department of Commerce a high-impact consultancy project aimed at attracting private investment and fostering sustainable tourism.

The formal agreement was signed on Monday at NEDFi headquarters in Guwahati by NEDFi General Manager Olee Bora and RGU Commerce Department Head Prof. RC Parida.

Spanning eight months, the project will focus on identifying hurdles to private sector participation across tourism-linked sectors such as hospitality, tour operations, transport, homestays, event management, and dining services. Researchers will examine the legal and policy landscape, evaluate existing government schemes, and map new opportunities for investment.

The project aims to deliver a comprehensive roadmap for tourism development, complete with actionable policy suggestions and detailed, bankable project profiles to attract investors. The team will also gather insights from community leaders, entrepreneurs, officials, and tourism professionals to ensure a well-rounded strategy.

The final report is expected to guide both public and private initiatives, opening new avenues for economic development and local employment in Arunachal Pradesh’s vibrant but underutilised tourism landscape.
