Ripun Bora Faces Vigilance Heat Over Gogoi-Pakistan Link Claim
Guwahati: Senior Congress leader Ripun Bora on Thursday appeared before the Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell (CM’s SVC), responding to a summons in connection with the alleged Pakistan link case involving Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi. The seasoned politician arrived at the Vigilance office as directed by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) for questioning in relation to Assam CID case number 5/25.
Bora’s summons by the CM’s SVC stems from a controversial statement he recently made, suggesting potential connections between Gaurav Gogoi and Pakistan. The SIT has taken serious note of these remarks, calling in Bora to ascertain the basis and intent behind his public assertion. The Vigilance Cell is reportedly looking into claims of a nexus between Gaurav Gogoi and an individual identified as Ali Tauqeer Sheikh, purported to be a resident of Islamabad, Pakistan. The ambit of the investigation has now widened to include Ripun Bora, who is expected to shed light on his knowledge regarding the alleged link during his deposition.
