Guwahati: After Lizz Truss’ departure, there is political unrest in the UK, and Rishi Sunak has become the new prime minister.
After less than two months in office, UK Prime Minister Liz Truss announced her resignation on Thursday, saying she “cannot execute the mandate” on which she was elected.
Sunak might become the next Prime Minister of the UK after Penny Mordaunt withdrew from the contest.
In doing so, Sunak made history by holding the office for the first time as someone of Indian heritage.
It should be noted that Rishi Sunak competed for the position of Prime Minister after Boris Johnson resigned. Truss, who assumed office in September, beat him out for the job.
Truss elected to resign from her position after a turbulent tenure of less than two months, placing the seat open once more.
