Rishikex Saikia: From Golaghat to Rap Stardom – The Journey of a Rising Artist
Entertainment Desk, September 22: Rishikex Saikia, hailing from the small town of Golaghat in Assam, has made waves in the rap scene, proving that passion and persistence can break barriers. His journey began when he was just a 10th-grade student, listening to rap music by 50 Cent, one of the biggest names in the genre. Captivated by the music but unfamiliar with the English language, he turned to the dictionary, painstakingly searching for the meaning of the lyrics. This sparked a fire in him to create his own music.
Rishikex recorded his first rap, titled “Gtown 02,” referring to Golaghat Town and the last two digits of his area’s pincode, on his friend’s phone. The raw and unpolished track marked his debut as a rapper, giving him the experience and motivation to continue.
Months later, he stepped into a friend’s studio to record another track called “Urban Flow.” This time, his work caught the attention of none other than Raftaar, the famous rapper and MTV Roadies judge. Raftaar appreciated Rishikex’s talent by sharing the track on his Instagram story, a moment that proved to be a huge breakthrough for the budding artist. South Delhi’s music page, Musical Satans, also covered the track, providing Rishikex with more exposure and cementing his place in the rap scene.
Following the success of “Urban Flow,” Rishikex dropped another track titled Sholay ka Don. Uniquely recorded in three languages—Punjabi, Assamese, and Hindi—the song became the first-ever Punjabi rap by an Assamese artist. While it didn’t achieve the same viral success as his previous work, it solidified Rishikex’s commitment to pushing boundaries.
Rishikex has since partnered with AC Multimedia, releasing the socially conscious song Say No to Drugs, now available on Spotify under his rap moniker, RK WARRIOR. This powerful track sends an important message, reflecting Rishikex’s desire to use his music for more than just entertainment.
Currently, Rishikex is working on his next project, Mai Wahi Ladka, a middle-class anthem that promises to share the real-life struggles and stories of people from underprivileged areas. This new song is set to be another milestone in his journey as he continues to rise in the rap industry.
From recording songs on a phone to gaining recognition from influential figures in the rap world, Rishikex Saikia’s journey from Golaghat is an inspiring tale of passion, determination, and creative vision. Keep an eye out for this rising artist as he continues to break barriers and represent his roots in the world of rap.
