Riyan Parag’s Heroic 155 Runs Not Enough as Assam Falls to Chhattisgarh in Ranji Trophy

Sports Desk, 8th January: Despite Riyan Parag’s remarkable innings of 155 runs off 87 balls, Assam faced defeat against Chhattisgarh in a Ranji Trophy group stage match on Monday.

Chhattisgarh’s Amandeep Khare (116), Shashank Singh (82), and Ashutosh Singh (58) contributed to their first innings total of 327.

In response, Assam was dismissed for 159, with Denish Das scoring a half-century.

Forced to follow on, Assam’s second innings was highlighted by Parag’s aggressive batting, where he achieved the second-fastest Ranji century, hitting 12 sixes and 11 fours.

Despite his outstanding performance, the team set a target of only 87. Chhattisgarh chased down the target without losing a wicket in 20 overs, securing victory over Assam.
