Riyaz Bhati an aide of Dawood Ibrahim Arrested in Extortion Case

Guwahati: Riyaz Bhati, an associate of Dawood Ibrahim, was arrested by Mumbai Crime Branch’s Anti-Extortion Cell on Monday in the Andheri.

On Tuesday, Bhati will be brought before the court in which a charge of extortion and death threats has been filed. In the extortion case reported to Mumbai’s Versova Police Station, Bhati was wanted.

The Anti-Extortion Cell of the Crime Branch conducted the inquiry after the case was reported to the Versova police station.

Riyaz Bhati and Salim Qureshi, aka Salim Fruit, a relative of Chhota Shakeel, are accused by the police of extorting a pricey vehicle and more than Rs 7 lakh by threatening to kill an Andheri businessman.

Salim Fruit, a relative of Chhota Shakeel and close associate of Dawood Ibrahim, has also been mentioned in the FIR.

The AEC team of the criminal section set up the trap after receiving the confidential information, and the accused was captured in the Andheri district.

Additionally, the Crime Branch petitioned the NIA Special Court to take custody of Salim Fruit.

On Tuesday, the police will bring the detained suspect Riyaz Bhati in court and ask for his custody.

At Mumbai’s Goregaon Police Station, Riyaz Bhati was also the subject of an extortion case.

In an extortion case filed at Mumbai’s Goregaon police station, Bhati is one of the defendants, along with former Mumbai Police Chief Param Bir Singh.

Bhati initially went to the court after the lawsuit was filed, but the court denied her request for anticipatory bail at that time as well.
