Road Accident in Assam’s Rangia, 2 Dead
Guwahati: As many as two people were killed and several others were injured in a massive road accident in Rangia , Assam on Sunday.
As per reports, the accident occurred on national highway 27 near Betkuchi village.
Reportedly, the incident took place while they were travelling on Maruti Swift car met with an accident as the driver lost control.
The family was travelling from Mangaldoi to Barpeta to attend a wedding when the tragedy occurred, reports stated.
The incident resulted in the death of two people on spot. The deceased have been identified as Shiv Prasad Baruah and Chandrama Baruah.
Meanwhile, four other people were injured in the accident, including a 4-year-old child. The injured were all sent urgently to a nearby hospital.
Earlier, a youth was said to have died in the storm in Badla Bheta in Assam’s Doom Dooma on Saturday night, according to reports.
The incident took place while the young man was travelling to his home in Bordubi, Tinsukia.
The deceased has been identified as Dev Kumar Thakur.
Sources claim that Thakur was riding his bike to his home when the fatal accident occurred as a branch of a tree suddenly broke down to the heavy storm.
Thakur’s passing is yet another regrettable result of the natural tragedy triggered by the storm and hailstorm that struck many locations on Saturday night.
On April 19, a severe storm that pounded Silapathar in the Dhemaji district of Assam resulted in one fatality when a giant tree fell on him.
The individual who was dead have been identified as Ajit Baidya (35) .
A significant amount of property was lost as a result of the region’s heavy rain and high winds. Several homes had their roofs blown off, causing complete destruction. Throughout the area, many trees and power posts were uprooted and fell into homes or onto roadways.
