RPF Seizes Smuggled Cigarettes from Avadh Assam Express in Anti-Smuggling Drive
Guwahati, 28th December: In a proactive move as part of a pan-India drive, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) conducted surveillance on parcels transported via trains, resulting in the seizure of smuggled cigarettes from the Avadh Assam Express.
On the night of December 27, around 10:15 pm, a targeted check was executed on Train no. 15909 DN Avadh Assam Express at Guwahati railway station based on confidential information. This operation led to the discovery of 5 cartons of foreign-made cigarettes.
The joint efforts of RPF and GRP exemplify the ongoing battle against illegal cigarette trade in Guwahati. The commitment of law enforcement agencies to curbing such activities not only prevents tax evasion but also safeguards public health from potentially harmful products.
