RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat Begins Five-Day Assam Visit Amid Centenary Celebrations

Assam: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat has commenced a five-day tour of Assam, arriving at Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport on Friday evening. This visit, part of the RSS’s ongoing centenary celebrations, will see Bhagwat engaging with volunteers and discussing key societal issues. His itinerary, known as Prabas, extends from February 21 to February 25, focusing on interactions and discussions centered around social transformation.

Upon arrival, Bhagwat proceeded to Sudarshanalaya in Guwahati’s Barbari locality, his residence during the stay. His schedule includes addressing RSS karyakartas (volunteers) and a select gathering on five pivotal themes: social harmony, civic duties, environmental protection, selfhood, and family values (Kutumba Prabodhan). Today, Bhagwat is set to visit the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati for a programme organised by the Rashtra Sevika Samiti. Sunday will see him deliver a keynote address at a Bouddhik programme at South Point High School in Saukuchi, where thousands of RSS volunteers are expected to participate. He will also hold discussions with Sangh Pracharaks and other dignitaries in the city.

The RSS chief’s Assam tour follows the inauguration of the newly renovated RSS headquarters, Keshav Kunj, in New Delhi on February 20. At the Pravesh Utsav programme, Bhagwat emphasized the need for the organisation’s work to reflect the grandeur of its new premises. He stated, “The magnificence of this office should symbolize the magnitude of the Sangh’s mission, and its essence must be upheld here. Our circumstances have changed, but we must remain steadfast in our direction.” The reconstructed headquarters, spanning 3.75 acres, features three 12-story buildings—Sadhna, Prerna, and Archana, housing approximately 300 rooms and offices.

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, founded in 1925 by Keshav Baliram Hedgewar in Nagpur, is preparing to mark its centenary in 2025. The organisation’s formal establishment was announced by Hedgewar on September 27, 1925, at his residence. Following his Assam engagements, Bhagwat will travel to Arunachal Pradesh on February 26 for the next phase of his Prabas tour.
