Russia: Explosion at Residential Building, 9 Dead
Guwahati: As many as nine people have been injured after a huge explosion rocked a five-story residential structure in Tymovskoye on the far eastern Sakhalin Island of Russia on Saturday.
The incident took placeat around 5 a.m. of Moscow time today.
According to the TASS news agency, the explosion took place in a brick structure constructed in the village of Tymovskoye in the 1980s.
The governor of Sakhalin Valery Limarenko reported that rescue workers were looking under the rubble for more victims.
According to Valery Limarenko, the region’s governor, “Nine individuals were killed, including four children.”
He claimed that some of the 33 people who were known to have resided in the building were still missing.
Preliminary evidence, according to the emergency ministry, indicated a gas leak and many storeys had collapsed.
A white building with brown balconies was partially destroyed in images that were broadcast on television.
