Sachin Tendulkar Enchants Meghalaya with His Visit, Soaks in Nature, Culture, and Local Flavours

Sports: Cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar recently found himself bowled over—not on the pitch, but by the serene beauty and warm hospitality of Meghalaya.

On a private family vacation with his wife, daughter, and close friends, the Master Blaster explored some of the state’s most iconic and scenic locations, leaving fans and locals alike starstruck.

Tendulkar’s itinerary included a visit to Sohra, the famed “wettest place on Earth,” during its uncharacteristically dry season, as well as a trip to Mawlynnong, Asia’s cleanest village, nestled in the East Khasi Hills. Known for its bamboo skywalks, lush gardens, and living root bridges, the village offered Tendulkar not just panoramic views but heartfelt encounters—particularly with young fans eager for selfies. According to a source close to his team, Sachin was all smiles and obliging as villagers lined up to meet him.

Captivated by Meghalaya’s pleasant weather and the simplicity of its people, Tendulkar also enjoyed the local cuisine. At the Marriott Hotel, he was treated to a special meal prepared by MasterChef India finalist Nambie Marak, who showcased traditional Garo tribal dishes. Overjoyed at the experience, Marak shared her moment with the cricketing legend on Instagram, calling it a surreal, dream-come-true moment. “To cook for him still feels unreal… and yes, he even showed me how to take a better selfie,” she shared, describing him as calm, kind, and humble.

The Tendulkar family also enjoyed a quiet picnic near their private resort overlooking Umiam Lake, adding a touch of idyllic leisure to their trip. Before wrapping up his Meghalaya visit, Sachin is expected to host a high tea with Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, offering a symbolic blend of sport, state, and shared appreciation for the region’s offerings.

From Meghalaya, Tendulkar will travel to Assam’s Kaziranga National Park to continue his nature retreat before heading back to Mumbai on April 9.
