Sacred Bathou Day Celebrated with Devotion Across Assam

Guwahati: The Gwthar Bathou San, also known as Sacred Bathou Day, was observed with immense devotion and enthusiasm at the Bathou temple in Bagansali, Kokrajhar, and in various parts of Assam. The celebration is an important event for the Bodo community, marking a day of religious significance and cultural heritage.

The celebrations began with the hoisting of the sacred flag, followed by traditional rituals, worship, and a collective prayer meeting, all conducted in accordance with the customs of the Bodo traditional Bathou religion. Devotees gathered in large numbers to offer their prayers and pay homage to Bathou, reaffirming their deep faith in the religion.

Sacred Bathou Day, celebrated annually on the second Tuesday of the Assamese month of Magh, holds a special place in the hearts of the Bodo people. On this day, they come together to perform Bathou Puja, a ritual that is an integral part of their spiritual practices.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Chief Pramod Boro both extended their warm greetings to the people on the occasion. Through social media, they wished the community peace and prosperity, acknowledging the cultural and religious importance of the day.

Sacred Bathou Day is not only a time for religious observance but also serves as a celebration of the rich cultural heritage of the Bodo community, symbolizing their enduring faith and traditions.
