Sangeet Natak Akademi Hosts ‘Shakti: A Festival of Music and Dance’

Guwahati, 10th April: As part of its Kala Pravah series, the Sangeet Natak Akademi is organizing ‘Shakti: a festival of music and dance’, aimed at rejuvenating Temple Traditions across India. Commencing on April 9, 2024, the festival coincides with the auspicious occasion of Navaratri.

The festival commenced with an opening ceremony at the Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati. In alignment with Navaratri’s significance, symbolizing the power of nine goddesses, the Akademi will celebrate temple traditions with ‘Shakti’ at seven different Shaktipeeths from April 9 to 17, 2024.

After the inaugural event at Kamakhya Temple, the festival will proceed to various sacred sites, including Mahalakshmi Temple in Kolhapur, Jwalamukhi Temple in Kangada, Tripura Sundari in Udaipur, Ambaji Temple in Banaskantha, Jai Durga Shaktipeeth in Deoghar, and will culminate at Shaktipeeth Maa Harsidhi Temple in Jaisinghpur, Ujjain on April 17, 2024.

The Sangeet Natak Akademi, functioning under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, is dedicated to the preservation, research, promotion, and rejuvenation of the country’s diverse performing art forms. These include music, dance, drama, folk and tribal arts, and other allied forms, showcasing India’s rich cultural heritage.
