SCERT Scam: Two More RTI Activists Held, Number Rises to 11

Two additional RTI activists were arrested by the Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell (CM’s SVC) in connection with the SCERT (State Council of Educational Research and Training) fraud in Assam which involved 105 crore rupees.

RTI activists Rajib Kakati and Benin Doley have been identiified as the people who have been taken into custody.

The investigation revealed that Rajib Kakati received Rs 7 lakh from the SCERT account using RTGS while Benin Doley received Rs 5 lakh.

21 persons have been detained thus far in connection with the case by the CM’s SVC. Out of this 11 people have already been sent to judicial custody by the court while the CM’s SVC is still questioning ten more.

According to reports, today’s court appearance will include all ten alleged defendants.

However, after receiving summons, Dibakar Sonowal and one top journalist with the last of Talukdar failed to show up before the CM’s SVC.
