Security Forces in Manipur Apprehend KYKL Cadre, Seize Arms and Ammunition

Northeast Desk, 4th April: In a proactive move ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, security forces in Manipur apprehended an active cadre of the banned organization KYKL and seized arms and ammunition from his possession on April 3.

The arrested individual, identified as Karam Suabash Singh (44), hails from the Wangkhem locality of Thoubal district. During the operation, security forces recovered one 9mm pistol along with its magazine and five rounds of 9mm pistol ammunition from Singh’s possession. Necessary legal proceedings have been initiated against the apprehended individual.

Continuing their efforts to maintain law and order in the region, security forces conducted search operations and area domination in the peripheral and susceptible regions of hill and valley districts on April 4. This led to the significant seizure of a cache of arms and ammunition.

Among the items recovered in the subsequent search operation were:

• One locally made pistol
• One locally made .22 revolver
• One Pompi
• One tube launching
• Two 2” motor shells
• Two smoke hand grenades
• Three detonators of No. 75 MK-2
• One Blank Fire Attachment
• Thirty-one empty cases
• Two empty magazines of SLR
• Two 38 mm Rubber bullets
• Four 12 bore cartridges
• One walkie-talkie set
• Three bulletproof plates

These items were discovered in Champhai village, located in the Imphal East District. Security forces remain vigilant in their efforts to maintain peace and security in Manipur, especially in the lead-up to the forthcoming elections.
