Security Forces in Manipur Recover Cache of Arms and Ammunition

Imphal: Security forces in Manipur have conducted extensive search operations and area domination exercises in vulnerable regions of hill and valley districts, resulting in the recovery of a significant cache of arms and ammunition. These operations are part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal arms proliferation in the region and ensure better control and security in sensitive areas.

In Churachandpur district, security forces recovered a substantial haul of arms and ammunition during operations in the Thangjing hill forest. The recovered items include:

  • Firearms: One country-made rifle, one bolt-action rifle, one .22 pistol, and one country-made 9 mm pistol
  • Mortars and Explosives: Three country-made mortars of varying sizes, one local-made hand grenade, one HE bomb, and 500 grams of gunpowder
  • Ammunition: 10 live 5.56 mm rounds, 12 empty 7.62×39 mm cases, 4 empty 7.62×45 mm cases, 20 live 12 bore cartridge rounds, and 20 live 7.62 mm rounds
  • Other Items: One helmet, two wireless sets with one charger, one local-made canon (Pumpi), and three hand grenades

In a separate operation in Kangpokpi district, security forces recovered additional arms and ammunition, including four country-made single-barrel bolt-action rifles. These recoveries demonstrate the commitment of security forces to maintaining law and order in the region.
