Security Forces Intensify Operations in Manipur, Recover Arms and Ammunition
Northeast Desk, 18th September: In a series of intensified search operations across vulnerable regions, security forces have made significant breakthroughs in combating illegal activities in Manipur. Targeting fringe areas in both hill and valley districts, these operations have led to the destruction of fortified hideouts and the recovery of weapons and communication equipment.
On September 16, 2024, security forces successfully destroyed a fortified bunker in Mongbung Village, Jiribam District, signaling a decisive move to disrupt insurgent activities. Simultaneous operations in Chanung and C Zoulen villages, located in Imphal East District, resulted in the seizure of a locally-made firearm, ammunition, and a “BAOFENG” radio set, indicating potential armed activity in the region.
In a separate operation between Gunjil and border pillars 48 & 49 in Chandel District, authorities recovered additional arms, including a pistol, hand grenade, mortar launchers, and bulletproof vests, further underscoring the presence of armed groups near the border.
These actions reflect ongoing efforts by security forces to stabilize the region, suppress armed insurgency, and curtail the spread of illegal weapons.
